Meet Alicia Ernand! She's a mother, a Spanish language court certified interpereter, and a successful business woman. Her Cuban roots spark her heart, and her American socialization
keeps her grounded. Her greatest passion is being the proud mother of Nicholas Bullock, an excellent golfer and honor college student.

Ernand's audio presentations have been approved for continuing education, distance learning credits by the Judicial Council of California and Nevada. In addition, interpreters nationwide use them for professional development. Her article, "The Makings of a Professional Interpreter" has been published in numerous interpreter publications including the Interpreter's Division of the ATA, The Colorado Association of Professional Interpreters, and the Las Vegas Interpreters Organization.

Ernand's interpreting workshops are extremely popular and have been presented at CCIA conferences,CWCIA conferences, California State  University Los Angeles, California State University Northridge, Chaffey  College, Clark County Bar Association (Las Vegas), East Los Angeles College, Florida International University, Las  Vegas ATI Conference, Miami Dade College, PALS for Health, and University of California Los Angeles. Comments such as "Best we've seen" or "Best of  the conference" represent typical feedback to Ernand's presentations.

Ernand is a leading authority on helping novice and veteran interpreters stay productive and competitive.Through her personal coaching and consulting services, she has inspired countless interpreters to optimize their potential. In addition, she works as a Spanish dialect coach with well-established actors. She reports liking the balance between the exposure to real-life tragedies in the court room where she does not have the luxury of saying "take-two," and the make-believe world of showbiz where she has the actors repeat their lines over and over until they get it just right.

She holds a Bachelors Degree in Psychology from Florida International University, and a Certificate  Program Degree in Spanish/English Interpretation and Translation from UCLA. In addition, she completed extensive course study in Journalism at California State University Northridge. During her internship there, she wrote, produced, reported and anchored for KCSN. She received the "Gold Press Card" award for "Best Radio Documentary" in 1992.

Ernand is a former commercial and radio  actress. Between  1981 and 1991 she
appeared in over 50 national spots. She was the  "Smart Mom" on LA FAMILIA DE HOY, a national magazine show on the  UNIVISION Spanish network. Her background in  the
entertainment  business is very evident in all her  presentations. She instructs,entertains
and motivates all at once. Her slogan, "The  Interpreter is the most important person

in the Judicial System," is a  source of inspiration for her students and colleagues!
